Subject: Transformer problem?

Hi all. I am working with an older vintage amp, a Valco. The amp is beautiful and the volume level is close to what I would expect, though perhaps a little short on volume.
The problem is it begins to distort pretty early and the distortion is not a good harmonic distortion really.
The output transformer on the P-P primaries measures 349 ohms DC on one side and about 318 on the other. Also the 6V6 on the lower res side seems to run hotter.

The field coil speaker in this amp is said to be rebuilt though to me it is still a little suspect.

Does the imbalance in the wiring of the primaries indicate a failure and is this difference in the DC resistance enough to cause a weakened output with a rather nonharmonic distortion that begins early?

Thanks to you all.

Tom
