WIth guitar in hand one could ascertain if that neck pup is actually 'present'...on line...leaking in... with the switch in the rear..bridge only..position. A simple test with a magnetic piece of metal to the pickup poles/cover would reveal if you have a two-pup out-of-phase situation or if the magic exists with only the bridge pup on line.
With a guitar like that, it would probably be taboo, but it would be interesting to measure the pickups resistance out of the circuit and compare it to the resistance in circuit. Would it be sacrilege to disturb one connection to the switch? IF it were an original solder joint, I would probably not be disturbing it. The resistance of the pup in circuit woud still be of interest.
