Subject: Re: Control cavity depth of the 1950 two-Pickup Esquire

I'm a metric guy from Germany but I'll give it a try! ;-)

Far as I know on old vintage Teles the depth of the cavities for the bridge and neck pickup as well as the wire channel were 0.6250 inches and the depth of the control cavity was 1.5 inches.

On my 52 AV RI the depth of the neck pickup rout and wire channel is 0.6875 inches and the depth of the bridge pickup rout is 0.85 inches.

The reason I was wondering about the control cavity depth of those 1.5 inch thick Esquires is that the CRL switch requires a certain depth to fit into the control cavity. Upon measuring my old CRL switch I believe that the cavity has to be at least 1-7/16 inches to accommodate a CRL switch which leaves 1/16 inches of wood which isn't a whole lot...

Maybe that's why Leo changed the body thickness to 1.75 inches?!?
