Adams - You are correct that there are times where some dirt is desirable, however in general, clean to the top is the name of the game for steel guitar, whether you play country or not. Personally I carry a second tube amp like a Champ if I want overdrive. I could possibly see the advantage of master volume if the amp had switchable channels. Otherwise, you would have to reset your amp every time you want distortion. Not very practical in the middle of a song. I'm still very anxious to see the circuit. - TW
