Hey TW Not everybody likes to play their steels clean all the time. Of course you want a lot of headroom with steel but its nice to have some distortion on tap if you want it. As far as I'm concerned you cant beat an overdriven lap or pedal steel when its time to rock hard. I heard an old boy playing some ZZ Top on his pedal steel and it made Billy Gibbons sound like a sick cat. Dan Walsh has some overdriven lap steel sound samples over at Industrial guitars thats down right wicked. You cant see a steel guitar shine if all you're playing on them is Country or Hawaiin music.
