I met him ( circa 1966 to 1968) in Birmingham, Alabama at the music store I worked for.He seemed a nice guy! I was in awe of him, and had tried to copy his "Bo Diddley" beat. I believed him to be living in Mississippi at the time, which was only about 2 hrs away-more or less. Don't most musicians travel out of their way to visit a music store that was heard of having great deals, merchandise, or whatever? It was a great store. I also saw Bill Carson several times there making his visits from Fender. I sure miss those days!! And that store!
