the 70's & 8o's ! I used to go see him, all thru the week
& later-got to see him & Freddie King playing together, on a "regular basis" at Mother Blues-in the latter days before "Big Freddie" left us, all too soon! I heard his Daughter, Wanda; (opening for Johnny Winter)-at the Granada,Dallas-(standing room only)-in about 2005-2006??, I think? SHE was a fantastic singer! I took a pickguard,from one of my LPs,& had a guy backstage, that was trying to get Johnny to sign it, but(Johnny was refusing everyone)-he wasn't feeling well. When we were all waiting-behind the back>when Johnny was exiting in the Limo; he looked over at us all, & just smiled, as everyone was greeting & thanking
him! Wanda was standing there; w/her permanent marker in hand;(She was a very SWEET person)-& I thought "what the Heck?-She Gladly signed it for me! Everyone there was following suit-she was "much Loved"-for her Talent;& EVERYBODY remembered the days, when we had Freddie around Dallas !! I had talked with her, earlier
in the Lobby; during the time someone else?? was playing-& she was just a wonderful, loving person;& was
so Gracious toward all the folks who spoke of her Dad-&
She Literally "Blew the Roof off" w/her STRONG, Great Voice !! Sorry for the long post-just thought ya might enjoy the story! Good to hear from you!
