does a Pine speaker cab sound brighter than a Birch speaker cab?

Subject: does a Pine speaker cab sound brighter than a Birch speaker cab?

When I try a speaker in my ext 1x12 cab (birch) it always sounds better than when I put the same speaker into my Pine Combo amp. No matter what the speaker, it always sounds unpleasantly brighter in the Pine combo cab. Is that generally true, that Pine has a brighter sound than Birch?

ext cab is 1/2 open back, 12" deep, 16"x16"
combo amp is 11" deep, 20" wide x 20" high, 1/3 open back
