By the way, I forgot to mention that Gerald Weber has an interesting chapter on how to mod a guitar amp (i.e. a 5F6A) for bass in his book Tube Amp Talk For the Guitarist and Tech.
SS recto, stiffer filtering and "bassier" voicing of the pre amp (in most cases obtained from the use if higher value caps) are among the mods he suggests.
