Subject: Fret Wire for Rickenbacker 4001 Refret? |
I have a mid-60s Rickenbacker 4001 bass to refret and restore. What kind (Stew Mac? Dunlop?)and gauge of fret wire should I use? I've e-mailed Rickenbacker service several times to see if I can purchase some fret wire from them (it seems to be proprietary) and have not received any response. I understand that after fretting the fingerboard, I will have to finish it; I plan to use nitro lacquer rather than the conversion varnish Rickenbacker uses. Thank you for your responses.
