The tone of the amp is great. The thing for bass is you want a stiffer power supply (no sag), and more headroom (power). If you go up to the 5F8A, and use a SS rectifier (WS1) when you're running bass, you'll be just about there with an efficient bass cab.
I recommend you use 500V caps on your power supply board though, you’re going to violate 450V (poof).
