I would go for the Sunn myself since you already have the Ampeg sound covered. The Sunns do work best through efficient cabinets however, so hopefully you plan to match it up with one. The old 2x15 JBL-equipped Sunn cabinets were quite efficient and loud and large.

The Sunn would benefit from a series cap connection for the first two filter stages and larger cap values too. In addition you would need to use a solid state rectifier or a Copper Cap if you did this. On mine I used series connected caps on the first two stages to get a 700v capability and a 110uf (two 220uf in series) and 50uf (two 100uf in series) cap for each stage respectively. The stock cap can is over voltage these days, and for bass the higher cap values will help the response.
