Ever notice that there are no left-handed horns, keyboards, etc? IMHO, if both hands are going to be used, it really should not matter. It's all in which way you start as a beginner. And, learning as a righty allows him to (among other things) try out his buddies instruments, enjoy a much larger selection of options in the music store, etc.
